April 12, 2009

If you’re still running an iPhone with its firmware lower than 2.2.0 you can use these quick an easy steps to reach v2.2.0. You don’t have to go through the whole dog and pony show to upgrade your jailbroken iPhone.

  1. Download the iPhone 2.2 Firmware for the iPhone 2G – by clicking on these links:
  2. Using WinRAR extract the first file (.part1.rar) and you will get a file iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore.ipsw (245MB).
  3. Connect your iPhone to your PC via USB cable and open iTunes 8 (Cancel if its asks you to update your iPhone to the latest firmware).
  4. Make a backup of all the contacts, music, videos and other media on your iPhone. Right click the “My iPhone” link on the left hand-side and select “Backup”
  5. Hold shift and click Restore and locate the custom iPhone 2.2 firmware extracted in step #2.
  6. Wait till its all done and enjoy an unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2G on Firmware 2.2.
